Pixlr Final Reflection
For the final artifact I chose to use the website Pixlr to edit
my picture. I chose this website because I had never used the site before and
because there were many different degrees of photo editing tools to choose from.
You could choose from the advanced photo editor (Hard), the express photo editor
(Medium), and the pixlr-o-matic (Easy). I chose the Pixlr express because it had
easy to use tool but had a lot to choose from. I chose to upload a picture
instead of using my webcam or my phone. When my photo uploaded, I used the
borders first. I chose a thin white border that had curved edges. I then went to
overlays and chose one with white and gray bubbles. I didn’t want that to cover
up too much of the photo so I made it fade 50 percent. Next I went to the
effects and chose one out of the unicolor section. The name of the effect was
Polak. After that I went to the adjustments and selected focal blur. This lets
you select an area to be clear then select a different area outside of that to
appear blurry. I put the clear area around our Tyler and I and added a color
boost to our faces. The last thing I did to the photo was to go to the text tool
and add the date that Tyler and I started dating and put it on the edge of the
photo.
Pixlr was a great site and didn’t have many problems with the actual
tools. The one problem that I had with Pixlr was that whenever I was done with
my picture and I wanted to save, the site would not let me. To make things
worse, instead of going back to the editing page, you lost everything you had
edited and had to start over. This happened to me twice. I would not use this
tool again because there are plunty of other sites that have the same, if not
better, tools and would actually let you save the photo. Pixlr was a great
website over all but the saving problem would definitely lead me to a different
site.
