Final Artifact and Review

For my final artifact I chose to use Storybird. Storybird is an
online story making site. You can only use pictures that artists upload on the
site. From there you can take a picture, put it on a page, and add words to make
it a story. I used this website because it seemed easy to use, had pre-uploaded
pictures, and let you customize your story book cover.
The first thing that I did was to go onto the website and sign up for it.
It did not cost anything to sign up, unless you wanted a membership to it. I
clicked on the “create” button and they showed a whole bunch of pictures that I
could choose from. I chose one with a cheetah in a tree. It then took me to the
page where I would design my book. There was a blank page in the middle to put
picture and to write the book. On the side of the page, there was a whole bunch
of different, but relevant, pictures for other pages in my book. You could add a
page, delete a page, and even make a cover page for your story. I put different
pictures from the sides of the story and put them on different pages. You could
put the pictures in different spots on the page. After I was done putting the
pictures where I wanted them, I added words to make it an actual story. When I
was done, a story was born!
The only issues I had with Storybird was with the pictures and the
sharing feature. The pictures that they allowed you to use were very pretty, but
most of them couldn’t go together to make a story that would make sense. Most of
the pictures were of random things and it was hard to find pictures that matched
well. Other than that, the sharing feature was hard for me to find. I searched
over my entire profile and still couldn’t find it. I had to enlist the help of
Coach Paulson to find it. Overall, I would not use this tool again because there
are only a limited amount of stories that you could make from it. Also, if you
want to write about something specific, you would not be able to because of the
photo choices.
